A Mãe-Tigresa depois de se recuperar do parto, começou a piorar seu estado de saúde, mesmo que fisicamente ela estivesse bem.
Os veterinários sentiram que a perda da cria causou uma profunda depressão na tigresa. Os médicos decidiram que se a tigresa adotasse a cria de outra mãe, talvez melhorasse. Após checar com vários zoológicos pelo país, tiveram a triste noticia de que não havia nenhuma cria de tigrinhos órfãos na mesma idade para levar para a mãe tigresa.
Os veterinários então decidiram tentar algo que nunca teria sido tentado antes em um zoológico.
Às vezes a mãe de uma espécie cuida dos filhotes de uma diferente espécie. Os únicos órfãos que puderam ser encontrados rapidamente foram as crias de uma porquinha. Os funcionários do Zoológico e os veterinários revestiram os porquinhos em pele de tigre e colocaram os bichinhos ao redor da mãe tigre.
